The analysis of fire causation can be one of the most technically demanding of the forensic sciences. Often, the fire scene appears to be nothing more than a pile of charred rubble. However, through systematic investigation methods at the scene, clues can begin to emerge, and hopefully a potential fire cause can be discovered.
The story doesn’t end there, however. The investigation then moves to the laboratory, where meticulous examination of the evidence is undertaken. The evidence typically consists of fire-damaged components that are often electrical and/or mechanical in nature. It is the job of the fire analyst to either prove that a particular item caused the fire; or in the case of a defense posture, to show that a particular piece of evidence didn’t cause a fire, and perhaps show that something else could have, or did cause the fire.
Paul Moore has investigated fires since 1999, both from the subrogation side and from the defense side. He has been an IAAI-Certified Fire Investigator, and had numerous successful fire analysis outcomes. Over the past nearly 20 years, Paul has investigated investigated hundreds of fires, including large boat and marina fires; structure fires ranging from single-family homes to multi-family dwellings, to large strip malls; and vehicle fires. Paul’s experience, coupled with his fire training and degrees in both electrical and mechanical engineering, gives him the background to analyze a fire, and arrive at accurate opinions, providing the client with information needed to make decisions about how to proceed with a case.
In addition, Moore Forensics has access to the facilities of a local fire investigation laboratory, which includes the capacity to store evidence, large and small, as well as conduct lab examinations of evidence in a fully-equipped laboratory.
Paul is also an FAA-licensed Unmanned Aircraft Systems (drone) pilot, which allows him to use the Moore Forensics drone to photograph and video record fire scenes from the air. Excavation progress can be documented, as well as the position of evidence, building structures, and the condition of dangerous or difficult to reach places.
Why choose Moore Forensics?
In addition to the capabilities discussed above, Moore Forensics will provide personal assistance and attention to a case, from start to finish.
There has been a trend toward larger and larger corporations providing fire investigation and engineering analysis services. These large corporations have the potential of providing less personal service with less flexibility. Further, many of these large corporations are contractually obligated to defend certain manufacturers. This often results in a conflict check taking at least several days. Even when an assignment has been accepted, sometimes the conflict isn't discovered until after an investigation is well underway, causing the large-company expert to have to back out of a case.
If you need technical assistance or consultation with a fire matter, please don’t hesitate to contact Moore Forensics, Inc. A conflict check can be completed in a matter of minutes once an assignment has been proposed. You will receive prompt and personal service throughout the course of the investigation, while having access to the state-of-the-art capability of a large fire investigation firm.
